DVM's Most Important Week of the Year

Every year Dirty Vagabond is an official charity at the Pittsburgh Marathon. This is our main fundraiser of the year, our biggest source of income to support the ministry. Last year we raised over $64,000 and this year we are aiming for $100,000! Right now we are close to $60,000 and we're one week out. The Pittsburgh Marathon is this Sunday, May 5th! With only six days left, we need your help!

In order to meet this goal we need your help.

This week we are asking you to do three things for us;

share, pray and donate.

SHARE

Share the image below on your Facebook timeline.  In the description for the picture post the description and link below so that people can learn more and donate. Then change this to your profile picture for the week! This will really help get peoples attention.

Dirty Vagabond Ministries is a Catholic non-profit that  brings the gospel to urban and inner-city areas. DVM's biggest fundraiser of the year is this Sunday, May 5th, The Pittsburgh Marathon. Learn more and consider donating at the link below... Your donation will change lives.

PRAY
Please, please, please take this fundraising effort to prayer. Mass intentions, rosaries, holy hours, fasting...you name it, we can use it. Without your prayer none of this is possible.

DONATE
Please, if you haven't already, consider donating to help us reach our goal of $100,000.

So remember, this week is big for DVM...and we need your help to reach our goal!

Thank you so much for your continued support! Remember... share, pray and donate!

2012 RECAP

With the New Year up and running, we just wanted to share with everyone our 2012 Recap.  Once again we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our donors, monthly pledge partners and prayer warriors. We really are so humbled by what God is doing in the lives of these teens and we couldn't do it without you.
Thank you!

Sandy Aftermath - Brooklyn Mission

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS!
we have been blessed in sustaining very minor damages, in comparison to what others are suffering.

A week ago today, NYC, Long Island and New Jersey experienced one of the worst super storms in their history.  Many people are still without power, food, homes, and basic necessities for living. As you may or may not know, Dirty Vagabond Ministries has a mission site at a parish in Brooklyn.

Here are a few pictures from our parish in Brooklyn:

The basement of our parish building has about 5 feet of water in it...

below is another picture of the faith formation center basement...

Unfortunately, our Underground Youth Center is getting gutted.
Flooded with about 2 feet of water, the couches and furniture were all waterlogged, and the XBox, and PS3 were leaking with water when picked up.

We were struggling with the idea of canceling our Thursday night BreakOut night this past week because the Underground smelled and was dirty, even after the water was cleaned up...

However, we decided that we HAD to have BreakOut, even if it was a small gathering and we couldn't use the stage or couches or sound system. We knew there would be some kids who needed to get out of the house, and we didn't want Sandy getting in the way of what Jesus wanted to do! About 20 students showed up, and Kree, the other missionary here in Brooklyn, gave a rad message on Mark 4:35-42.

Even though we didn't have a clean Underground, stage, sound system, projector or any of that cool stuff, Jesus was there doing His thing, and the truth was shared despite the setbacks of the storm. BOOM!

We are so glad that Jesus is still calming the storms of life, and that we are all safe. Please direct your prayers towards praying for those who have been hit the hardest in New Jersey, Staten Island, Breezy Point, and the people who still go without power, food, and homes.
