Sandy Aftermath - Brooklyn Mission

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS!
we have been blessed in sustaining very minor damages, in comparison to what others are suffering.

A week ago today, NYC, Long Island and New Jersey experienced one of the worst super storms in their history.  Many people are still without power, food, homes, and basic necessities for living. As you may or may not know, Dirty Vagabond Ministries has a mission site at a parish in Brooklyn.

Here are a few pictures from our parish in Brooklyn:

The basement of our parish building has about 5 feet of water in it...

below is another picture of the faith formation center basement...

Unfortunately, our Underground Youth Center is getting gutted.
Flooded with about 2 feet of water, the couches and furniture were all waterlogged, and the XBox, and PS3 were leaking with water when picked up.

We were struggling with the idea of canceling our Thursday night BreakOut night this past week because the Underground smelled and was dirty, even after the water was cleaned up...

However, we decided that we HAD to have BreakOut, even if it was a small gathering and we couldn't use the stage or couches or sound system. We knew there would be some kids who needed to get out of the house, and we didn't want Sandy getting in the way of what Jesus wanted to do! About 20 students showed up, and Kree, the other missionary here in Brooklyn, gave a rad message on Mark 4:35-42.

Even though we didn't have a clean Underground, stage, sound system, projector or any of that cool stuff, Jesus was there doing His thing, and the truth was shared despite the setbacks of the storm. BOOM!

We are so glad that Jesus is still calming the storms of life, and that we are all safe. Please direct your prayers towards praying for those who have been hit the hardest in New Jersey, Staten Island, Breezy Point, and the people who still go without power, food, and homes.
